It’s likely that not many North Americans had heard of Daniella Cicarelli before the Brazilian government ordered Internet phenomenon/video site YouTube to shut down until they could find a way to get the Brazilian’s sex tape off of their pages. That didn’t and couldn’t happen, so Brazil, which is a pretty big country, blocked access to YouTube for all of their citizens. They’ve recently reversed this decision, pending YouTube’s continued cooperation with removing the video. This decision has many important ramifications for both privacy and anti-paparazzi laws, as well as net freedom in general.
